Phuket to Phi Phi Boat Transfers

Hi,

We are travelling from Phuket to Phi Phi to stay at Zeavola in July. Since it is the rainy season - what should we expect from onboard the boat transfers - ie. will it be a very rough ride?

I was there last year in July. The water was fine until late afternoon when it became a little choppy, but not too bad. We were on a snorkeling boat and had no problems.

The weather can vary day to day, you can get lucky and have fine weather or it could be rainy and wet, Unfortnately it 'is' the rainy season. I 'think' the Zeavola has their own fast speedboat though not sure, check with them.

Hi! I recently stayed at Zeavola. We took the ferry from Krabi to Tonsai village on Phi Phi. They met us on the pier and walked us to the other side of the island where we got into their longtail boat. The seas were rather rough that day (late April) but the trip would have been fine, except that we got a really long fishing rope caught in the propeller which stripped the engine. They were able to call the resort to send us another boat, so we just had to wait a while for that one to get there. It all worked out okay, but was pretty nerve racking at the time. Coming from Phuket you can also take the ferry and have them pick you up at Tonsai in the longtail or you can ask them to send their speedboat (arrange via e-mail in advance). The speedboat is very expensive compared to the ferry/longtail option, but it's up to you if you are comfortable spending that much. We saw a few couples arrive on the speedboat and they brought a tractor out to it to get them and their bags so they wouldn't have to get wet coming ashore. In the longtail, your legs will get wet, so be prepared for that if you take that option.

I've posted a trip report recently called "LA_Fadeaway's Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia Trip Report" if you want to read the details of our stay at Zeavola.
