Phuket, Thailand
I have plans to visit Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket in March of 2005. According to the internet the hotel we are supposed to stay at (Karona Tropical Resort) on Karon Beach is still open. Should I go to Phuket or consider another beach?

We're staying the South Sea Resort that's across the street from Karon Beach, further north than the Katathani, and a little more within our budget. I posted Katathani photos because they were the only current beach/hotel photos I could find, and I thought people might like to see, especially those considering a change of plans.

Copy of a message I posted on a similar thread:
According to an American's report on CNN who is operating a business in Phuket, only a relatively small part of Phuket endured the tragedy. Even in those areas, beyond 200 meters away from the beach there is no evidence of anything unusual having happened. The affected beaches are already getting cleaned up, to the point that he says visiting the beach is like visiting it 20 years ago before there were chairs and vendors on the beach. |
read the comments by bev turner which i posted on the thread asking about her here
