Phuket resorts

We plan to stay in Phuket for several weeks in February, 2011. Has anyone been to Siray Island (Westin), Panwa Beach (Radisson) or Makham Bay (Le Meridien)? We've never been to the southern part of the island. I assume these are nice hotels, but are they too isolated from restaurants, shops, etc.? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Some of them may have shuttles buses into town, and taxi (songrans) are very cheap. usually they sit at then of the hotel driveway. Set a rate before you hop on.

being remote can be a problem....i like to have a car in phuket to make that easier....

i do know the meridien just south of patong....its a very nice older hotel with a fabulous beach all to itself....its an easy ride over the hill to patong---they have a pay shuttle which is a bit of a pain as you need a res....

the marriotts at the north end of the island are nice, but remote....

i personally am going to the new jw marriott to the north at khoa lak.....it looks quite fabulous

The Westin is just a stone's throw from Phuket Town. There are lots of restaurants and my restored colonial-era buildings in the town. It's just a 10 minute drive. The resort is new (not even open yet, I think).

Thanks for the replies. I will update hotel & restaurant info after we return in March. Has no one been to the Radisson Plaza?
