Phuket/ Krabi Trip

Hi All,

My wife and I are planning to visit Thailand during our 1st wedding anniversary.
Dates are from 26th April to 3rd May (7 nights).

We are not so keen on going to Koh Samui.
More interested in Phuket, Phi Phi Don, Ko Lanta, Koh Lak.
Interested in the night life of these places as well, water sports.

Needed help in planning the trip as well as, places to stay. we are hoping to find a decent apartment in Phuket in Patong and like-wise budget hotels in other places (approx 2000 Baht per night).

Experts... please help us.. :)

Regards.

Koh Phi Phi was a diabolical experience over New Year this year.

Overcrowded with tacky tourism, dirty, scruffy and dangerous with far too many boat operators. Think tourists giving cans of beer to monkeys on the beach and you have found the level.

We sailed around the area, many islands, Krabi and Koh Lanta were stunning and very quiet.

Great Dickie_Gr.. so what all places in Krabi did you go to ?

Also, I think, because of the new year, Phi Phi being a typical "tourist" destination, you experienced this. Many fellow travellers mentioned, that to enjoy this island, one should spend a night, to avoid the day-hopping tourists.
Hence my plan to spend a night on these islands.. :)

Phuket Phi Phi Koh Lanta Khao lak are all very different indeed

If you plan to stay on Phi Phi be sure to stay away from Tongsai unless you are going for drinking pubs bars loud music and crowds.

Koh Lanta is more relaxed and quiet , very different

Khao Lak is mainland , nice beaches, relaxing, close to national park with amazing scenery

Krabi has stunning scenery but depending where you stay beach may be ok or maybe not

It all depends on what sort of destinations you are after. Patong of course is the busiest resort area on Phuket with lots of bars pubs discos restaurants and you have shopping malls , if that is what you are after then no worries.

That budget is ok for Patong , plenty at that price http://www.patong-beach-hotels.com has lots of places. Perhaps you may want to look at The Aspery which should be within your budget, only a short walk to the beach but a littler quieter than being around the most busy loud part of town

Hey.. Thanks James

So where would you suggest in go in Krabi ?

and what can we do in Phi Phi ?
Patong, I want to stay, so as to enjoy the parties over there.

we are looking more towards the night-life as well as the beeches. So, places where the parties are to be enjoyed, would stay there else, near the beeches..

Also, what should be my travel itinerary ?

We are in for 6 nights; but we will get chance to take tours only for 5 days. So many island tours, don't know which ones to take.
Heard James Bond island is dirty, so cancelled that.
Booked:
Phi Phi with speed boat
Hong island snorkeling and kayaking
Now thinking 3rd one is 4 island hopping (sunset long tail: BBQ dinner) We are staying in Ao Nang and heard Railay beach sunset is really good. 4 island hopping sunset tour is one of the 4 islands but not on Railay. Also, the tour operator themselves have mentioned on the site that get in line fast, else food is gone. My hubby won't like such things.
- Any suggestion, which is the third island tour we can take?
- Heard Phi Phi and Hong are good; but if you have different experience, do let us know.
Also planning to go to Emerald pool, Hot springs, Elephant ride, Krabi fun park, night markets etc.

What is your experience in general and regarding island tours?
What you loved most in Krabi?
And what you really hated?

Thanks a bunch.
