Phuket in late June

Hello!

My fiancée and I are going to Thailand from June 17th to July 1st. I would love to go to Phuket for a few nights.*I’m a little concerned about the weather at that time of year.*I’ve read variable things. We*don’t mind short downpours everyday,*but also want the opportunity to enjoy the water (snorkeling, checking out surrounding islands via ferries, etc)*and have a little beach time. I understand Ko Samui is supposed to have better weather in June but Phuket appears to offer more to do. Dissenting opinions welcome!*

We will also be going to Chiang Mai and Bangkok during this trip, for what it’s worth. We are in our early 30s, first time in Thailand, and just want to get the most of our trip!*

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

Dan

Phuket and Koh Samui are very different islands. Both are heavily touristed, Phuket is arguably more “upmarket” but in both cases different resorts have very different vibes from very expensive to those catering for mass market package tours. choosing the right place on this islands is as important as the island itself. Koh Samui and the Gulf coast will see the best of the weather. this is a useful site for checking out the weather https://www.selectiveasia.com/thaila...s/weather/june and this site is great for getting a lowdown on the islands and resorts https://www.travelfish.org/country/thailand

Depending upon how important the snorkelling is to you, Koh Samui, or at least nearby islands like Koh Tao and Koh Phang Nan will have the better snorkelling and diving conditions at that time. Phuket on the Andaman last will see rougher seas and power visibility under the waves.
