Having been taught the art of bureaucracy by the greatest, the British, and cultivated it to new heights I can't quite imagine the government of India succeeding in reducing the red tape for visitors to the country. You'll note that in the headline it says they "intend" to do it, while further down it says "We have called a meeting on October 7 to discuss the possibility of extending tourist visa...". "Intend" & "discuss the possibility" do not sound like the same thing to me.

I hope they succeed but I'll be watching to see if the changes actually transpire and in my lifetime. I do hope so. Thanks Richard.

We are going to India in February as tourists from the US. I was planning on applying to BLS this month, but maybe I will wait until November to see if this will be in effect in feb.
