India intends to extend on-arrival visa for US, UK, 38 others
I saw this on a blog today, and hope that it happens soon. I plan to visit India next February and was not looking forward to dealing with obtaining a visa. See the article here: http://profit.ndtv.com/news/economy/...-others-328235

Having been taught the art of bureaucracy by the greatest, the British, and cultivated it to new heights I can't quite imagine the government of India succeeding in reducing the red tape for visitors to the country. You'll note that in the headline it says they "intend" to do it, while further down it says "We have called a meeting on October 7 to discuss the possibility of extending tourist visa...". "Intend" & "discuss the possibility" do not sound like the same thing to me.
I hope they succeed but I'll be watching to see if the changes actually transpire and in my lifetime. I do hope so. Thanks Richard.

There is newer article that makes it seem more imminent. The government has actually cleared measures for the visa on arrival and to have an online application system. See here: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/i...w/23667475.cms
