I was with my brother, his wife and daughter. I got upgraded to the big family suite - 2 bedrooms on 3 floors right on the lagoon. The pool there is very nice - has these little elephants spouting water out of their trunks. The good thing about staying at the Laguna complex is that you can use the facilities of any of the hotels, including pools and restaurants.

From the Allamanda, the easiest way to get to the beach was to take the pontoon boat that goes around the lagoon to the Dusit or Laguna Beach Club and then through to the beach. The other route is to walk, and depending on where your room is, it may not be far. As I recall, the Allamanda stretches up to the bridge across the lagoon, and the beach is right on the other side.
