Can anyone recommend a driver in Phuke? We will be staying at Andaman White Sands and I understand the hotel drivers are exhorbitant. Would love a recommendation from someone. Thanks.

ttt-stands for "to the top".

CFW-usually in the resort beaches, there are drivers available through the multitude of peripheral businesses that grow up near the resort. We were just in Krabi and arranged a transfer to the Phuket airport at a tour operator next to the Sheraton for $50 instead of the $75 the Sheraton wanted to charge. I suggest that you scope it out when you get there. You can always arrange a driver from the hotel at the last minute.

We are not staying at one of the major resort beach areas, which is both a plus and a minus. The minus is that there will not be much in the way of transportation available, so am hoping to get a lead for a driver. If we can't get a recommendation or a regerence to a web site, we'll try to make arrangements with a taxi at the airport...

I think you will be able to arrange something at the airport without any problem. You say you are not staying at a "major beach area" ... I don't know which area you are visiting. Kata Noi, a smaller beach, certainly had many options for drivers right outside the door of the resort. We just had to walk across the street and down a short distance. You may find the same thing in your beach area.
