If you've got mobility problems, and plan on using the beach, then you need to make sure that the sand isn't the 'deep loose stuff' that you sink in above the ankles every step.
If you choose Khao Lak be careful as that stretch along the Andaman Coast goes on for miles with Resorts stretched along it. A lot of the beaches fall into the 'deep loose stuff' category, and some beaches are quite steep between the water-line and the top of the beach. While the area might be idyllic, it might not be practical.
There's a beach resort close to Phuket Airport called Nai Yang, which has a big flat beach with compacted sand, perfect for walking with mobility issues. The water is also very shallow.
Plenty of accommodation options in Nai Yang on Booking.com, where there's a filter for selecting hotels that advertise themselves as suitable for people with mobility issues. The Dewa is ideally placed, practically on the beach, and only a couple of hundred yards from the beach village.
