Phu Quoc in August

Has anyone been to Phu Quoc in August, and if so, could you tell me about the weather? I've read wonderful things about the island (that it is beautiful and less touristy than Ko Samui & Ko Phangan etc.) but it would be kind of a trek for us to get there from Bangkok and don't want to go if its going to rain all day every day. We will be travelling the 1st & 2nd weeks of August. (the info that I've found has been conflicting...that it is rainiest in July/Aug or that the only really rainy month is in October)

I don't know the answer to this question, but if it were me, I'd check www.weatherbase.com and look at a couple of the closest cities.

I've been to Phu Quoc in August. And yes it did rain for most of one day. August is prime monsoon season. It might rain every day, but generally it doesn't rain all day. The water visibility for snorkeling is generally not very good this time of year.

hi,
Don't worry, because in August is rainy season in the North of Vietnam, The South is later. The wearther in Phu Quoc in that time is quite good

Sorry, but the rainy season starts in May and runs through October in the South (and sometimes into November).

A friend suggested that I go to the Life resort in Quy Nhon instead... said it was very beautiful and would have less rain. Has anyone been there? How does it compare to Phu Quoc?
