Phnom Penh - which area to stay in?
Which area of the city is best to stay? I am interested in sightseeing and being close to restaurants, pubs, etc in the evening? I was looking at accommodation in the Riverfront area, but have read conflicting reviews of the presence of prostitutes in this area. I would prefer to be within walking distance of restaurants/bars in the evening.. Am I better off staying in the Beung Keug Kang area instead of Riverfront? I only have one full day in the city and would like to stay somewhere centrally located.
Thanks. |
We stayed at the FCC and enjoyed being as close as we were to the quay, which is always pretty lively. I didn't think it was particularly an off-putting area at all.
(the FCC rooms are nice, but funky. Very few rooms and not a super modern place, unlike the Siem Reap location.. and a little noisy overhead... but we liked it) |
I prefer the Riverfront and can't say I've been hassled by prostitutes. Tuk tuk drivers offering to take me to prostitutes yes but streetwalkers no. Personally I think the advantages of the Riverfront outweigh the disadvantages.
