phi phi? or other islands near phuket?

Our honeymoon is almost entirely booked, thanks to everyone here! My last challenge - where to stay for our last two nights in the Phuket area.

We'll be coming in on Sunday, Nov. 4 and spend two nights at Layalina in Kamala. On Nov. 6, we're taking a kayak trip with John Gray which includes overnight camping. So that leaves two nights - Nov. 7 & 8 - to play with (oh, and our flight does leave until evening on Nov. 9th).

I was considering Phi Phi, but I'm not entirely thrilled with the accomodation options. Are there any other islands near Phuket that have hotels or bungalows? I think it would be great to end our big trip on an island...ideas?

Don't rule out Phi Phi Island yet! I strongly suggest looking at either Phi Phi Island Village or Zeavola on Phi Phi Don.

Both are fantastic 5 star options--PPIV is a bit more secluded than Zeavola location-wise and Zeavola is a bit more high-end accomodation-wise.

Happy to give you more info on either if you're interested.

There are other islands near Phuket (i.e, Ko Lipe) but think you'll find the accomodation gets less luxurious with the more off-the-beaten-path islands.

Zeavola certainly has the most luxurious accommodation anywhere on Phi Phi, but it lacks in many other ways. No beachfront bungalows, a really awful pool andhe grounds are,, well, just average.

PPIV, is nice, but a beachfront bungalow at Holiday Inn is perfect. Photos here

:) I was expecting Leigh to chime in on Holiday Inn!

Regulars will know that anytime Phi Phi gets mentioned on this board--we're the two people to respond right away.

One day I hope to meet you, Leigh...I feel as if our passion for Phi Phi and its various wonderful accomodations has spurred our own version of the age-old Oriental vs. Pen debate. :)

Yes filmwill,I nearly allways respond to any post about Phi Phi and that is because,on this forum, I read so much disinformation about this wonderful little island.
Overcrowded, overdeveloped, full of daytrippers, noisy speedboats, could be a beach anywhere in the world, etc, etc, etc. Just complete nonsense!!

One of the aims of this forum is to provide genuine accounts of ones experiences in travel in order to assisst others make decisions about their own travel arrangements. So when I read some of the uncomplimentary Phi Phi posts that are also quite clearly inaccurate.....I just have to respond.

Of course, it may not be everyones 'cup of tea', for sure, but it certainly is a little piece of paradise in my opinion.

I took a lot of video footage in February/March this year and hope to have it on our website soon.

I would second the recommendations for PPIV or Holiday Inn (on Laem Tong Beach,Phi Phi). We spent 3 nights in March next door to Holiday Inn at PP Erawan Palms. Not quite as luxurious as Holiday Inn but we were very comfortable. The beach is superb, swimming wonderful and Bamboo and Mosquito Islands which are a long-tail boat ride away, offer great snorkelling and picture postcard prettiness! The Sea Gypsey Village between Holiday Inn and PP Erawan Palms is charming and, if you do go, then be sure to have dinner at their Jasmine Restaurant. Unpretentious but delicious. Have a look at Leigh's pictures...says it all! And,Leigh, we have you to thank for our Phi Phi stay. It was largely due to your posts that we went to this part of the island. Trip report to follow.
Best wishes on your impending marriage,Zinders.

I'm mostly concerned about the price and the time to get there...the Holiday Inn and PPIV sound great, but their Nov. rates are out of our price range. And the less expensive places didn't sound as appealing (although I'm interested to hear what Gabi7 has to say about Pitarom).
