Phi Phi Island Village

We are trying to choose a hotel for PhiPhi and we are leaning toward the Phi Phi Island Village Resort and Spa. We want to be able to go out to dinner at night in town and not stuck at the resort. Are there any other hotels or stores nearby to walk to? Are there longtail boats that will take you to Ton Sai Bay? How long is the boatride and about how much does it cost? We are trying to decide to stay here or closer to town but we really like this hotel. Thanks to everyone for all of their fabulous advice!!

You don't mentioned when you are going but currently they are doing construction on the Dlx and Beachfront bungalows. My understanding it is isolated from other places and RT nighttime boat rides are ~1000-1200B.

Hi there

We stayed here two years ago. No, you can't "walk" to any other restaurants - it's on it's own stretch of beach away from other resorts. Longtail transport is your only option. You could go around one bay to the Holiday Inn or about 20 minutes to Tonsai. We loved this resort and it's isolation is part of the whole deal. How long are you staying here? If it's only a couple of nights, it would be wiser to plan lunch in Tonsai and eat at the hotel to save travelling on the water after dark.

I would imagine the construction would be finished much before the high season but you can email them from their website: ppisland.com or direct at [email protected]

phi phi island village had 3 restaurants opened when we were there in oct 05.
i know the boats run into tonsai during the day and the price doubles for a nite run. its a little scary to ride in a long tail boat at nite...about 20 minutes if the ocean is calm...i think it was $15 each way...
if you were going to do this, prearrange your evening transportation, go into town before dark, they will pick you up at a designated time...thats what we did

it is beautiful, the restaurants were affordable and excellent meals (great breakfast buffet)

enjoy the solitude and setting...i dont think there are any great restaurants in town...but things change , maybe there are now

Thanks to all for the helpful info! I am still torn on where to stay. Is this resort close to Gypsy Village at all? Are there any hotels that people can recommend that will give us the best of both worlds as in a bit isolated but close enough to town where if we want to go outside of the resort its not too much of a hassle? Or should we just stay at PP Island Village? Thanks in advance!

A good choice of accommodation is available, from fan cooled bungalows to exclusive resorts to air-conditioned rooms. Stay in the centre of the island around the main ferry port at Tonsai Bay, or in the more exclusive resorts located in the secluded bays.
