Phi Phi Hotels?

We are considering staying on Ko Phi Phi for 3 nights in Feb.

There seems to be very little info on this forum about accomodations on this island. I did find divediva's thread about Phi Phi Island Resort but she didn't go into detail about the resort.

Our budget is between $60-100. Although we would like to stay closer to the low end we would go higher for the right place.\

We would like to stay in a place that has a Thai feel to it, if that makes sense.

Can anyone please provide some info or recommend a hotel?

Thanks!

euro...phi phi island has been known as a backpackers island since "the beach"
brought it to worldwide attention. the tsunami devastated the only town ton sai and many many hotels and bungalows are either gone or rebuilding. in the under $100 per nite range...you will probably be in ton sai area...there were a few nice bungalow complexes near town that are ready for guests.

because february is high season...you should shop around via booking agencies to see who has the best rates (and they vary between agencies). there are also
touts at the ferry dock when you arrive with picture boards that show the different places with occupancy.
phi phi island village is fantastic. 4 star...huge pool, lovely grounds, great restaurants...they have everything from a dive shop to top of the line spa...
and the rates are about $125 per nite including a delicious, huge breakfast buffet. worth the splurge if you want first class accomodations (bungalows) and privacy.

Thanks!

I have been reading up on Ko phi Phi for the last couple of months. I was tempted to skip it due to the tsunami damage but I can't think of a better place to spend my tourist dollars.

I also think it would be an ideal place to base myself for a dive or two.

Cheers!

euro...the island is worth the visit..i felt good spending my $$$ there. everyone is working so hard to fix, improve, clean and beautiful their island.

the diving was also 1st class. i have dived all over the world and i loved diving there. my partner did an intro dive that i accompanied them...we saw turtles, lion fish, clown fish, clams,
so many tropicals in huge numbers...and the corals were all in good shape even though our dive site was close to shore and the tsunami damaged the land...the ocean looked remarkably unaffected.

you will love and and feel good about supporting their economy as well.
