Phang-nga to Phi Phi Islands?
Hello! I'll make this short and sweet...my husband and I are thinking of spending a few nights on the island of Ko Yao Noi while visiting Thailand in April. We'd like to take a day trip to the Phi Phi Islands while we're there--any idea if this is reasonable from a logistical standpoint (time and effort to get there and back)? Also, any ideas on ballpark pricing to do so? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you do the tip from Koh Yao the easiest would be any trip arranged by the resoprt you are staying at, though that might be relatively expensive, best is to contact your resort and ask them if they do trips themselves ( perhaps others join to do trips ) Paradise Koh Yao is ( was was at least ) good. Are you planning on spending any other night in the area, perhaps from where a trip might be easier ?

Thanks, James :) We are planning on spending the rest of our time in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, And Koh Tao. We looked into staying on Phi Phi, Phuket, Ko Lanta, or Krabi, but I really like the fact that KYN is much less developed and not (from what I can tell) as touristy. Still considering spending those nights in one of those areas instead, but I also really love the look of the Koyao resort--the bungalows look amazing, and the area just looks so beautiful :)

May we ask what time of year you are visiting ? the weather between Koh Tao side and Phuket/Krabi side can be very different. Koh Yao would be great Nov/Dec thru Apr/May but Koh Tao would not be good Nov onwards time. Koh Tao is mainly for snorkeling and scuba, if you were planning on that time of year ( Nov say thru Apr ) then perhaps swop Koh Tao for a few days on Phi Phi instead. If you did Koh Lanta you could also do Koh Mook which is very 'away from it all tropical style'.
If you are going May through October although you 'can' have good weather you can also get loussy weather which means that although some storms no biggy elsewhere can upset tavel plans if you are on a quiet island, i.e boat trip disruption. So time of year can play a part in deciding. |
Thanks, James--I am going to check out Ko Mook right now...it sounds great!
We'll be in Thailand in mid-late April, and here's what we have been thinking as far as our itinerary. *2 nights BKK *4 nights Chiang Rai *3 nights somewhere on the Andaman Sea *4 nights Ko Tao *1 night BKK I know it's a lot of beach time, but DH and I are huge beach people, and he did not want to cut back any more. Plus, we'd really like to spend time on both the Gulf and the Andaman. Any comments on whether 4 days in Chiang Rai is enough/too much? Thanks! |
