peanut allergy in thailand

i'm severly allergic to nuts, specifically peanuts -- am i crazy to travel to thailand for a wedding?

depends on you, really.

I'm glad I don't have your food contraints. It must be hard. But there is nothing to stop you going to the wedding. But as it would be unrealistic to expect THEM to tailor their menus to YOU, you'll just have to avoid eating at the celebration.

Or are you asking about Thailand in general?

no, go and have fun, but be careful of what you eat while there....there are many options in thailand that do not include peanuts

How allergic are you? Do you get symptoms by being in the same room with peanuts or can you just not eat them?

If it is simply a matter of not being able to eat peanuts, you'll want a card printed in Thai saying you are allergic to peanuts. You'll also want to avoid peanut oil, which some foods are fried in.

There have been a number of posts about this. Do a search. as there is a website that has cards you can print out.
