Passenger Service Tax at BKK
 

Flying into BKK for first time in November. Just now came across something that mentioned a "Passenger Service Tax" Does anyone know how much it is, at what point do I pay it, and can I use a Credit Card (if not- are there ATMs nearby- I was not planning to travel with THB, rather withdraw some from a Cash Poit at the airport when I arrived).

it is 500B and must be paid in Baht...you pay it before going through immigration when you leave thailand

There are ATMs at the airport, but note that is is a departure tax that you pay when you fly out of the country (so save 500 baht to pay it). There is also a domestic departure tax, paid when you fly to another location in Thailand. I think it's 200 baht, but if my figure is out of date someone here will tell us.

Just before you go through the imigration line to show your passport and stuff and get your exit approval before procedding to the gate there are automated machines that will give you the departure ticket. You have to use baht so make sure you save 500 baht to put into the machine.

Domestic tax is 50 baht at most airports in Thailand and is included in your fare. The exceptions are airports owned by Bangkok Airlines and here you pay the tax seperately - Samui 300 baht, Sukhothai and Trat 200 each.

I read on this site that the departure tax is going up to 700 bht in February. Bad news for me as we are leaving Feb 5th.

Do you need to pay this tax each time you leave Thailand? We are flying into Bangkok, then to Siem Reap, back to Thailand, then to Singapore.

Yup, you do have to pay the departure tax each time you leave.

You don't have to pay if you are in transit. So if you fly into Thailand from SR and do not have to clear immigration again before you leave for Singapore then there is no departure tax. You are also allowed to skip the tax if you are in transit for a few hours and take a tour.
