KimJapan Jul 1st, 2008 10:23 PM

The pictures are great...I enjoyed looking at them. Thank you for sharing them.

Hanuman Jul 2nd, 2008 02:26 AM

Nice pictures Bob. I really like taking the pictures next to you... I look so thin!

tengohambre Jul 2nd, 2008 04:05 AM

Bob,
Great photos. I do wonder, however, if Swenson's paid some kind of promotional fee. And, one of your photos is simply hilarious. Everyone will have to scroll through them all to find it. Tengo

BillT Jul 2nd, 2008 04:51 AM

Great pics! makes me yearn to be back in BKK and maybe Hau Hin!

Kristina Jul 2nd, 2008 05:24 AM

Good photos Bob. It's nice that you were able to meet up with so many Fodorites and we are able to put names with faces now!
When we were in KL in '98 people were not allowed to go up in the towers so it was interesting to see your view from the 41st floor.
Looks like you got to stay in some very nice hotels along the way too. Looking forward to seeing the one in Bali.

simpsonc510 Jul 2nd, 2008 05:26 AM

I recognize some of those purses! haha Thanks for sharing.

BillT Jul 2nd, 2008 09:35 AM

Thanks Bob- I'm guessing Melaka was not the high point of your trip?

rhkkmk Jul 2nd, 2008 05:25 PM

bill, we actually liked melaka quite a bit....sort of felt more like the "real malaysia", what ever that is???

kuantan is where we are sort of neutral about

rhkkmk Jul 2nd, 2008 06:20 PM

picture group five is here:

ladytravels Jul 2nd, 2008 06:22 PM

Great pictures thanks for sharing. Looks like you had an enjoyable trip.

If you don't mind, where did you most enjoy staying on this two month journey?

Robbietravels Jul 2nd, 2008 06:44 PM

Bob: Thanks for a wonderful report, I've taken note of some helpful details. And thanks to Andy for the indispensable heckling.

rhkkmk Jul 2nd, 2008 07:38 PM

favorite place...that would be places....the only place we would not return to is kuantan probably...

my favorite hotel room is a tie: pool facing room on high floor at phuket meridien and the upper floor, gannga room, at vila shanti, ubud, bali...

Gpanda Jul 3rd, 2008 01:50 AM

I strongly suspect the POB means that he enjoyed the room at the Alam Shanti in Ubud. This is the hotel at which he actually stayed. The Villa Shanti is a figment of his imagination. However, it's this type of "creative" reporting that separates Bob from those of us mired in reality.

rhkkmk Jul 3rd, 2008 04:33 AM

he is right....i had the name wrong...

btw, we stayed in 19 hotels on this trip so i get them mixed up....i do not have the clear mind of the 'sage from cambridge'--

Gpanda Jul 3rd, 2008 05:01 AM

BTW, he doesn't have the clear mind of an amoeba either.

Smeagol Jul 3rd, 2008 10:40 AM

I did laugh at the piscture of the monkey which was entitled "andy in hua hin" hilarious

Gpanda Jul 3rd, 2008 12:20 PM

Nickey-do not encourage him. He's bad enough without any cheering from the sideline. I elected to let the simian slight pass.

Smeagol Jul 4th, 2008 12:01 AM

But Andy it was funny and anyway i have NO DOUBT you will get him back for that remark (ten fold!!!!!)

rhkkmk Jul 4th, 2008 11:16 AM

did you like his exgenisve review of his bali trip??

DonTopaz Jul 4th, 2008 12:10 PM

did you like his exgenisve review of his bali trip??

Maybe he was too busy writing exegeses of your reviews?

Gpanda Jul 4th, 2008 12:17 PM

What language do they speak in Needham? i've asked this before

Femi Jul 4th, 2008 02:22 PM

You guys have me laughing exgenisvely!

(No Andy, I didn't laugh at all when I saw your pic!)
:(|)

simpsonc510 Jul 4th, 2008 07:31 PM

Hope you enjoyed your fireworks display, Bob. We had a really great display in our little town tonight. We can see it from our family room window, as we live close to the lake where it is put on.

Happy 4th of July!

susncrg Jul 4th, 2008 08:48 PM

Bob- Thanks for posting the photos. It was great to match faces and names to the folks who have given me so much help with my travels!

Smeagol Jul 5th, 2008 12:29 AM

Bob
Am loving the photos and quinci villas looks gorgeous have added it to my (evere growing) list, although i would have killed Muffin if he had included a picture of my knickers drying.........

rhkkmk Jul 5th, 2008 06:46 AM

tengohambre Jul 5th, 2008 07:44 AM

Bob,
The photos really are great. Any censure for late posting may be erased, though that is up to Andy.

The golden Buddha mask that you bought is beautiful. Now, one question: when I get there in a few weeks time, will they have another one? Or, everything is one of a kind, or at least one per year?

Gpanda Jul 5th, 2008 10:01 AM

There is no sanction for late posting of pictures. His report was timely, no penalty attaches. Believe me, if there was a way I could stick him with a proper penalty, it would be repeatedly assessed and discussed.

rhkkmk Jul 5th, 2008 10:23 AM

the penalty continues: friendship with gpanda!!!!

rhkkmk Jul 5th, 2008 10:24 AM

robert---andy bought the mask....i am sure he would make you anything you wanted....the maker is a really nice guy...putu took us there...

rhkkmk Jul 5th, 2008 10:26 AM

i lied, putu did not take us there, another driver we used for part of a day took us there....but putu would know where...

rhkkmk Jul 5th, 2008 10:41 AM
