Bbbb...but Bob, then I (ME) would be left without a paycheck, I'm thinkin'.

simpsonc510 Jul 11th, 2008 11:12 AM

Can I select my own assistant??? I won't discuss qualities I'd like... at least not HERE. (smile)

Craig Jul 11th, 2008 01:51 PM

Bob and Karen - Well I have now managed to make it through your 2000 photos - enjoyed those of Lombok and now I understand why the Alam Shanti in Bali was so wonderful. The pictures of the monks at the government hospital were especially moving.

Oh by the way, I have probalby said it before but I agree that United Airline s-cks and unfortunately we will be flying them for our last leg from Dulles to Hartford on our VN trip next April...

rhkkmk Jul 11th, 2008 03:41 PM

craig---that's almost like escaping---dallas to hartford is a piece of cake, but don't expect a piece of cake---byob...

Craig Jul 11th, 2008 03:56 PM

bob that's washington dulles to Hartford not Dallas! Even so I'll byob.

rhkkmk Jul 11th, 2008 08:17 PM

piece of cake.....of course with the new administration in charge by then, all flights may be grounded---together we can...

Gpanda Jul 12th, 2008 01:52 AM

Craig-if you're clearing immigration in Dulles, be prepared for a very long wait. It took us 2 hours in June.

Don-any Mencken quote is a bon mot(s).

Bob-I'm refraining from ridiculing you for your misuse of "i.e.". I must be slipping.

DonTopaz Jul 12th, 2008 02:36 AM

Is a NeedhamCon like a NeoCon?

Craig Jul 12th, 2008 02:40 AM

Andy, when I was booking the flight, the agent wanted to give us 1-1/2 hours at Dulles. Having read your report, I knew that we needed more time - so we now have 4 hours to get through immigration and find our flight to Hartford.

rhkkmk Jul 12th, 2008 05:19 AM

craig---the 1.5 hours probably would have been enough....remember andy had to eat a full meal while still in his cage before immigration would clear him and the aggie people and the national forest department had to have congress pass special legislation to allow him back in the country... the massachusetts bar also had to agree to take him back on some "junior" membership level...

Gpanda Jul 12th, 2008 05:22 AM

There was a truck rollover in needham this morning and they had to close the highway in both directions. Sort of a metaphor for the typical Needham thought process.

simpsonc510 Jul 12th, 2008 06:09 AM

Craig, I used to come back from ZRH through Dulles. I always had about 1 1/2 hours between UA flights, and it was never a problem. Not much "wait" time though.

I no longer go through Dulles... I avoid it at all costs (including $$$$). I'll pay more for my ticket if I can avoid Dulles!

Craig-the hope is that your passage through Dulles is quick and smooth and you get to spend lots of time in the lounge. If our immigration clearance was typical, it's a sad commentary on Dulles.

Smeagol Jul 12th, 2008 11:25 AM

Ok dont shout but where Dulles? (i figure the U.S)

jclizzzard Jul 12th, 2008 11:26 AM

it's right outside Washington, D.C.

Smeagol Jul 12th, 2008 11:29 AM

well i am NEVER going to that airport sounds worse than Heathrow!!!!

simpsonc510 Jul 12th, 2008 01:36 PM

smeagol
Close match. LHR is just as crazy and unorganized IMO.

Gpanda Jul 12th, 2008 04:08 PM

N-Don't be fooled. T-he airport code for Dulles is IAD.

rhkkmk Jul 12th, 2008 07:12 PM

o'hare is the only major airport that we try to avoid....

jclizzzard Jul 12th, 2008 07:12 PM

off topic from IAD but related to much earlier posts - Needham is not such a bad place! I went to college there :)
