Panda in Bangkok
We got an E-mail from Cathay Pacific offering cheap fares from JFK or LAX to BKK. After reading the positive posts to my inquiry about CP, we went ahead and booked for November. We have plans for VN in spring 2008, but this deal was too good to pass up. Plus, hoiw could we miss the traditional Thai Thanksgiving ceremonies?
|
That's great, Andy. When will you be there? There is a chance that one or more of us could also be in BKK same time. I know a number of fodorites will be there, as they were talking about future trips at the GTG in Pasadena.
Enjoy!! Carol |
The Pandas will arrive late on 11/16/07 and depart early on 12/1/07. We just did this yesterday on a spur of the momoent decision. We have no idea of in-Asia plans. Perhaps Luang Prabang or a more ambitious Myanmar. Craig's report made M seem wonderful. Maybe just BKK and a beach. More will be revealed.
It would be great to meet up with any other Fodorites in BKK. When we figure out our itinerary, I'll post. Glad to hear you had a good time at the PGTG, Carol (no"e"). |
Andy,
Your name came up a number of times in Pasadena. You were missed! |
Perhaps we'll overlap a bit with you in BKK. We return from Sri Lanka on Nov 19 and catch our flight back to Seattle on Nov 24. We'd enjoy meeting up with you and Beth at our favorite BKK hotel (don't tell Bob - LOL).
|
aww andy, will be leaving the day before you arr.
|
Kathie-that's great. We'd love to see you and Cheryl. Remind me again of our favorite hotel. We won't know our BKK dates until we firm up our plans.
|
Kuranosuke, if I remember correctly you arrive in Bangkok after we leave for Sri Lanka (Nov 7) is that right? We'd love to overlap with you in Bangkok and go out for some great Thai food!
|
hey Andy
We are flying CP to Australia at Christmas because we got a great biz class deal (you know how precious Muffin is) be interested to hear your thoughts on CP when you get back. Are you going to book Tong again? GUTTED we are not going to BK this year, but hey i guess the Great barrier reef for christmas and Sydney for New year. |
We will probably book Tong. It will be a challenge for her to come up with new and exciting activities for Beth and me. Must wait to determine our schedule.
Nikki-have a great time in OZ. We'll be in economy, so we won't be able to advise concerning the business class section. I'm just lucky they let Beth bring a pet panda. |
Andy, I hope that you will get out of your comfort zone a little bit and explore beyond Bangkok/beach/Tong. You won't regret it. Go Yankees (couldn't resist).
|
Craig-we're looking at some new choices. I do note that we're going to Vietnam in spring 2008, so we may just relax and enjoy old favorites.
Is it possible to demote an entire pitching staff to Triple A? |
Andy, If you are lucky enough to visit SE Asia twice within 6 months then by all means go to Bangkok, relax and enjoy.
Due to injuries, the Yankee pitching staff has recently consisted of starters that have been PRO-moted from AAA (and AA in some cases) - I believe there has been a total of 5. Therefore as the veterans return, demotions would certainly be appropriate. |
Andy - still be interested in your thoughts on CP (the only way i managed to get muffin to Oz was to stump up for biz class seats)
i trust you'll be posting your itinerary for us all to critique? Anyway when's your sparing partner back on fodors? |
kathie, yes, i seem to remember that conversation. lets plan on meeting for great thai food when you all get back from sri lanka, and you can tell me all about your trip. i plan to go there soon.
|
VERY GOOD NEWS....the ROS has been converted to welfare housing...for old time sake they are saving two of the very best suites for fodorites....
|
Sparring partner? More like punching bag!
Nikki-I'm sure I'll promptly post (no penalty) about CP and all the other details. Does Muffin know they speak English in Oz? Any suggestions for offbeat BKK adventures are surely welcome. |
