Pacific Place area
Hi,
We are staying 2 night at the J W Marriott in the Pacific Place development in Hong Kong. Can anyone suggest good eating places in the area. We will probably eat at some cheap places and some nice places. Thanks |
"Zen" for dim sum - basement level Pacific Place and from the JW take the elevator down to the mall level or business centre level and it's right outside the mall entrance door.

Thai Basil in Pacific Place is an interesting thai fusion restaurant.
There's supposed to be a good Shanghai resto in Pacific Place (Ye Shanghai I think it's called) Wanchai has good cheap lunchtime noodle bars. One Harbour Road at the Grand Hyatt is very good for dim sum and dinner. Buffet at the shangri la is pretty impressive. Otherwise, HK is so compact and easy to get around there's no need to restrict yourself to PP. E.g dim sum at City Hall is my fave. |
There's a nice fusion restaurant called "L16" in Hong Kong Park, behind Pacific Place. It's owned by the 1982 Miss Hong Kong and her husband. My sister (Fodorite "yk") ate there and recommends it.
Or take the Peak Tram (walk through HK Park to the tram station) to the Peak. There's the Cafe Deco in the mall, and the Peak Outlook in the old building across from the mall. |
Pacific Place is right on top of the Admiralty MTR so I'd suggest you get out of the mall area. Take the MTR to Causeway Bay - 2 stations - and in the Times Sqaure Food Forum both Wasabi Sabi (Japanese) and Water Margin (Chinese) have excellent ambience, decor and food. Reservations highly recoed. Medium range pricing. Take the MTR to TST - 1 stop - and go to Hutong (fusion Cantonese) or Aqua (japanese or Italian) at 1 Peking Road (signposted from the MTR so you can exit right in the building almost) - best views of the harbour. Expensive for dinner, reasonable set lunches, reserve couple days in advance if coming in peak season. From Pacific Place walk down to Central. Dragon I on Wyndham Street is the most happening night club and bar. Their all you can order dim sum lunch is amazing value at HK$128 per head. Ask for an outside table and enjoy the terrace and the birds chirping in the huge cage nearby. Another nice place is M on the Fringe - again in Central at IceHouse Street very near Pac Place.
