Overseas Adventure Travel or Laurus?

We're looking for a China tour with 20 people or under. We've traveled independently in Europe (a lot) and also in Thailand. However, for China, we're opting for a tour. We'd like intelligent tour guides and good meals that represent the country--not "Western-style" hotel food. Also we don't want to spend time in those "factories" that are there to sell things to tourists. We've tentatively narrowed it down to Laurus or OAT. Laurus gets great reviews on this website--OAT is not mentioned as much. I'm wondering if any of you have used OAT for China. Does anyone have a sense of what some of the differences between the two tour agencies might be. Food-wise? Factory tour-wise? Anything else? Are there any museum or university-sponsored tours that anyone has been on and could recommend?

Did you get any replies? Did you opt for Laurus or OATS? I have heard excellent things about both

I am also considering Cina and am researching Laurus and Eldertreks. Have you looked into the latter tour company as well. They seem interesting.

Hi, I traveled with Laurus to China and can't say enough good things about them. I was hesitant to pay up front, but all went smoothly and our guide, Linda, was OUTSTANDING. This was the best trip I have ever taken.

Note that Eldertreks' pricing does NOT include air fares.

I traveled to China & Tibet with OAT in March and cannot say enough about how wonderful the trip was. The hotels were exceptional and food was super. Breakfast was a choice of Western-style, Chinese or Japanese. All other meals were either in restaurents or the hotels but were food all "of the region". Our guide was Kathy Ping and she took pride in teaching us about the history of China and China today. She gave us her love and pride in China and also the struggles of the people today. We are traveling with OAT this coming February to Thailand and would always look to OAT before any other company. You would not be disappointed.
