USNR,

Did you go to Japan with OAT? If yes, can you give some detail? Which tour did you go with to Italy? GCT or OAT? I'm considering both of the above.

Thanks.

We went to Japan 'way back on a cheap deal put together by Japan Airlines. By today's standards, it seemed rushed -- we like the approach taken by GCT/OAT that gives us plenty of free time to do things on our own.

On our Italian trip, we went with GCT -- Rome, Sorrento, Montecatini Terme (Tuscany). It was superb -- fine guide, congenial companions, good hotels, great food, interesting optional side trips. We did not take the extension to Venice because we had been there twice before, and had to get home to conduct business.

USNR, are you going to China in April on OAT or GCT? Just wondering, as we are going then with OAT.

The OAT tour goes to Tibet, and my old ticker (and other ancient bodyparts) are forbidden to go to high altitudes such as at Lhasa.

Just completed our first OAT tour (Thailand and Cambodia) Usually travel independently so wasn't sure what to expect. We were impressed! The guide and the things we did were fantastic. The group of 16 was intelligent, and very well traveled. Can't think of anything negative. It was well run, provided a huge variety of experiences and saw and did more in the 20 days than I could imagine. It was excellent and plan to do another one day when we're too pressed for planning time.Hopefully, your China experience will be as possitive and educational as our Thailand trip.
Good traveling.
