Our planned trip to Vietnam & Cambodia

I have planned a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia for March 2010. We are flying from Melbourne (Australia) to Kuala Lumpa with Air Asia ,staying overnight at Tune Hotel at the airport and then flying on next morning to Saigon, also Air Asia. The cost of traveling this route is approximately halve that of flying direct. We are staying 2 nights at Sofitel Saigon (our only indulgence) before being picked up at that hotel for a 7 night cruise on the La Marguerite to Siem Reap. We are staying 3 nights at The Pavillon Indochine which including breakfast and a Tuk Tuk and driver for the 3 days is approx. $70 (aust) each. Then By Mekong Express bus to Phnom Penh for 1 night at The Pavilion also very cheap, before another Mekong Express bus to Saigon. One night there to be booked before a freebie frequent flyer points with Jet Star back to Melbourne.
Would like feedback on
1. Air Asia
2. Tune hotels
3, Sofitel Saigon
4 La Marguerite cruise
5 The Pavillon Indochine Sien Reap
6 The Pavilion Phnom Penh
7 The Mekong Express bus.

You can see a couple of photos of the Mekong Express and of the Pavilion Phnom Pehn here: http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/...03%3A675104030

One of the best parts of the bus trip was seeing the countryside from the road.

I took the Mekong Express from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh & spent one night at the Pavilion... it's in my trip report here - http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...cmc-narita.cfm

Please let me know if you have any questions...

air asia is fantastic...make sure you pre book your seats....pay for the upgrade on luggage and you will find this flight is as good or better than any other one you might take...

air asia had an arrangement with the pan pacific hotel at the regular airport in K/L.... you might check it out...its very very nice...not sure where the other hotel is as i did not see any around the discount airport

I recently stayed at the Tune Hotel. It's got one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in in all of SEA, but the room is TINY. Just for sleeping, definitely not for hanging out.

It's an interesting twist to have a tuktuk included in the room rate. Be sure to tip him, poor guy is probably making next to nothing.

We are only at the tune hotel for the night before flying on to Ho Chi Ming,so all we need is a comfortable bed.To rhkkmk the Tune Hotel is a very short walk from the discount airport and as we are flying in in the evening with Airasia and then out with them the following morning it would appear very convenient. We have pre booked our seats.
Thanks dreaming for the photos re Mekong Express
