Organised tours

Please excuse my ignorance in relation to this and I think the answer to this question is going to be pretty obvious.

I have been looking into day trips with various travel companies in HCMC and Hanoi - Cu Chi tunnels, Mekong Delta and Halong Bay day trip.

Sinhcafe have these trips for $8, $10 and $24 respectively.

Other places I have looked are more like $30, $40 and $100 respectively.

Can someone tell me what the major difference is here? From the looks of the itineraries these are almost identical in what they do??

Thanks again everyone.

Look carefully at transportation, actual guide (or just a driver?), group size (join in or private?), boat used in Halong Bay. Some price difference may also be a premium you pay for booking through an internet agent...some charge a lot. Often, different places offer the exact same tour, the only difference being the price charged...the agents or hotels are just funneling tourists to the same tour operator.

Best to decide exactly what you want to do in terms of itinerary and if you want a guide or driver only, and if you want private or join in. I'd think it easier and safer to book when you are there and avoid prepayment for essentially the unknown. There are unfortunately plenty of copycats and shoddy operations.

Is it okay to book these types of tours once in the city? Is availability plentiful?

Also, can you just hire a driver to take you to Cu Chi? We would like to go in the afternoon that fits our travel plans and most of the trips seem to be in the morning to there?

Thanks

Availability is plentiful. Do wait to book unitl you are there. Being there may also give you more information about why company A charges $10 and company B charges $30.

Friends of mine toured Vietnam with Sinh cafe and were very pleased with the service. They arranged their travel from Canada and paid there.
