Only one week in Bali
 

If I only have one week to spend in Bali and I want to split the time in two places, what two should I choose? Nusa Dua? Ubud area? Jimbaran Bay? Lovina Beach? <BR> <BR>Thanks!

I'd split the week between two places w/big contrasts - Ubud and Jimbaran Bay.

Topping - any other advice for Bali?

Kuta beach is for the young. It's very active. Ubud is my favorite & I don't know much about Jimbaran Bay. We are returning to Ubud & Lovina, this October. We have hopes of seeing Dolphins in the early morning at Lovina's black beach. No matter where you go; it is lovely. Dode

Was all around Bali last year on my honeymoon. What hotels are you looking at? All parts of Bali are cultural diverse. Ubud is a great place to visit for the day (day trip). After a long trip relaxing on the beach is well needed. Recommend the Amankila or if you can travel to Java the Amanjiwo was the most relaxing and restful place I have so far found on this planet.

After living in Bali, I can tell you that there's nothing in Nusa Dua besides beaches and hotels. Very boring. Jimbaran is also very "tourist catered," and the only fun thing to do in Jimbaran is watch the sunset at a beachside cafe (AMAZING seafood!). Ubud is a lot of fun if you want to get the cultural experience. Lovina is great for snorkeling and dolphin watching, which you do in the early morning... i recommend going to Lovina for that but leaving afterwards to go to Mt. Batur

I would definitely spend a few days in Amed on the northeast coast of Bali. It is like going back in time to the Bali of old. Quiet, beautiful.... The Amed area stretches for about 10km along a spectacular coastline, small bays and fishing villages. There are great places to stay. Thanks for all the great responses everyone. I forgot to mention that this "week" I am spending is part of my honeymoon. To conclude, I've decided not to stay at the Amanusa as Nusa Dua seems to be an unpopular location. I'm splitting up my time at the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay and Sayan(Ubud); though I am torn. I've heard so many say one should go all out on a honeymoon, to super-splurge and indulge yourself in the luxury-hotel pampering. BUT, I have also heard that Bali can be more interesting if you stay at a moderate hotel so you don't stay locked up in your luxury-suite, and more importantly you go out and fill your days with great Bali activites. I spent a week in Bali last October with my wife. We are 30 and 36 to give you an idea of what we thought! We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Jimbaran bay by far one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever stayed at. It's about 15 min. taxi ride and about $2.00 US to get to Kuta and IMO I don't want to be near Kuta the noise etc. We could go back to our beautiful villa and relax after we had our fun in the evenings. I agree with someone else that Ubud is a good day trip! We stayed at the Amandari 2 nights in Ubud very nice although we were glad to return to the Ritz. You will love Bali one of our most memorable trips.

Hyunha, <BR>Your choices, both the Four Seasons are excellent! Fours Seasons Jimbaran is one of the world's highest rated hotels .You can't have a better honeymoon hotel than that. Its rooms are rated 100/100 by Conde Naste, one of only three in the whole world! Just be sure to take the pool villa. I would recommend staying there as well as in Ubud. You could look at the Begawan Giri in Ubud if you want something different. It is more intimate and personal than the Four Seasons Sayan.Similar pricing tho. You still can experience the interesting side of Bali by staying at the luxury hotels. Just rent a car with driver at US$50 a day and you can have the best of both world. Enjoy! <BR>
