Hi viv.
Go to Newton Circle for a local food, if you like shopping, go to orchard road, most of the sores are having a great sale right now. after that you can visit one of the many pubs along jalan sultan road.

It is Mohammad Sultan Road that is lined with pubs/clubs. (Jalan Sultan is a completely different street). If clubbing is not for you, try the night safari. It's an open zoo featuring noctural animals- quite interesting. The East Coast Seafood Centre is another good food place- Chilli/Pepper Crab and baby squid are a must-try

Was there at the end of May. Someone suggested the night safari. That was very interesting, but if you only have one night I'd skip it, they have those at zoos all over the world. I liked Clark & Boat Quays. The choices of food and clubs/bars are endless. Really liked an Irish Pub called Molly Malones. The staff were so friendly and even happily stayed open an hour late the night we were there to accomodate a large group who were having an especially good time.
As for anything cultural, that stuff is best left for daytime. The Botanical Gardens were beautiful (wear comfy shoes)
