One night - not far from airport

We will be arriving from our trip to Thailand 6:30pm and will leave the next day for the states. I am looking for a place to stay that will be easy to get to and not expensive -hopefully less than $150USD. Any ideas?

what airport, what country??

Since you are talking about Thailand, I'll assume the city you are referring to is Bangkok.

There is, of course, a Novotel right at the airport. JamesA recently posted that he found a web rate under $150 for ir. If you do a search on this board for hotels near the Bangkok airport, you'll find many posts and many recommendations.

I'd stay somewhere in town rather than near the airport. It only takes 20-30 minutes by taxi to get to the airport in the morning. Lot's of choices for under $150.

i agree with bisbee if it is in fact thailand that you are questioning...

You have enough time to choose an airport downtown, there is the Novotel Suvarnabhumi at the new airport and the other Novotel ( bangna ) is perhaps 25 mins away, but you get better choice and better value for your money downtown.
That Novotel Suvarnabhumi $150 rate is up around the $154 at the moment plus tax/service but still not bad compared to rates elsewhere. I used to have a link for cheap deals drom Accor but can't find it now (!).
If you are on the early NW/UA flights traffic would be easy.
www.asiaoz.com/bangkok_airport_hotels.html has for both airports

My daughter has a reservation at the Novotel Suvarnbhumi next week at 4708 baht inclusive of tax. Booked on Accor Hotels website

With the offshore Baht rate getting close to 30 to the Dollar, that's around $145 a night! It still looks like that's a good rate, as it's showing around 6,600 elsewhere.

JamesA Jun 19th, 2007 03:45 PM

Yes that's good, it's 4,708 excluding breakfast, but I guess people who stay there would be heading for 'really' early flights so the breakfast doesn't come into it. It's 550 extra for breakfast. That is though a 'no change / no cancelation but a goo deal, but interesting also is 5,885 including tax ( again no breakfast ) but that is an 'unrestricted' rate which I pressume means you can cancel/change, that still a good deal.
www.nongasia.com/hotels.html has the Sawadee and Hotelclub rates plus those Novotel ( Accor group ) special rates, also World Choice ( though that I think is now around 154 plus tax/service range )

Perhaps worth mentioning here that the Royal Princess on Srinakarin (next to Seacon Square) has a day rate 1,900 Baht - for check-in and check-out on same day. They're only about 15 minutes from the airport.

I apologize - I did not put the city - it was Hong Kong that I needed a place near the airport. But I did read another posting and found a recommendation for the YMCA - which is where we are staying on our way over to Asia - so maybe I'll just book it there. I apologize again for this!
