One night in Bangkok - which hotel?

I'm second guessing myself, as usual.

We are arriving at midnight on NWA's flight from Tokyo. Jetlag not an issue for us as we're living in Japan.

Departing next morning on 10:30 flight to Chiang Mai.

Have booked Asia Airport - it's cheap. But...

We could spend the night in the Conrad BKK, collect some points, get a stay (5 stays - before Feb 28 gets us 50,000 bonus points, doable for us), and still be onlyl 30 minutes from the airport - according to the Conrad's website. The Asia airport hotel is 10 minutes away from the airport.

Spend the extra $100.00 for what amounts to an 8 hour stay, in a much nicer environment? Or is the Asia hotel at the airport not as much of a dump as I envision it to be?

conrad it is....too bad you can't be there for dim sum, but you probably have that often in japan...

i prefer to come into town to stay rather than out by the airport...

better beds and the added bonus for you...

the conrad is less than 2 years old...

not sure of the 30 minute drive but certainly 45 at the most...easy tollroad access from there...

We actually will get dim sum there, but when we are really in Bangkok at the end of our trip, so there will be a Conrad dim sum report for sure. I did think about changing the flight to Chiang Mai to a later time, but we all decided we just want to get there. We'll have a great breakfast and then move on.

Rate...$145.00/night. With HHonors, you cannot book through another site and get points and benefits. The points and benefits are important to me, so I don't even bother checking other sources. As a Gold, we always get breakfast and almost always a great upgrade. We'll how Bangkok treats us.

Stay in town for sure. I once stayed at the Asia Airport Hotel long ago. Takes a long time to get there and the place is depressing.
