One Day in Seoul -- What to Do?

On an upcoming trip to New Zealand, we have a one-day stopover in Seoul, Korea. (Yeah, it's a strange route, but we are using Frequent Flier tickets.) Any ideas as to how we should use our time there?

Are you interested in visiting the DMZ? I am havaing trouble posting their link but will try again if you are interested..

I thought that the Noryangin Fish Market was well worth a visit.

Will you be taking a hotel room at the airport?

I have a trip report covering my week in Seoul. I will top it for you so you can get an idea of what I did..hope it helps..

You can have a nice day within Seoul proper. One of the palaces--Changdeok palace, Gyeongbok palace. Either one (can't recall which one) has costumed patrols/guides. Imsa-dong for art galleries, traditional crafts and yummy snacks/Korean teas.

This site will help you make some little plan for your one day Seoul trip.

And I highly recommend you Seoul City Bus Tour, especially palace tour. As W9London said, Changdeok palace, Gyeongbok palace, and Insa-dong is really nice place. I bet you'll enjoy it.

You can find some information about Seoul and Seoul City Bus Tour at that site, activities -> City Bus Tour -> Palace course.

I hope you have a nice day there and New Zealand, too. :)

When I go there (usually for business, once or twice a year), I tend to end my day at Lotte department store in Myong-dong. Nice food department downstairs and a parade of fairly foreigner-friendly (food displays outside) restaurants on the top floors. The subway system is clean, fast and easy to use.
