and Ken, at least it didn't turn out to be a nudist restaurant with an igloo bar. BRRRR.

great hokkien mee

thanks to kmloke, i had great hokkien mee and both places that was rec. by kmloke. for those of you going ot sing, try this delicious noodle dish. i'm sure they serve this dish at all the upscale food courts, and might even be served in some of the 4-5 star hotels.

meeting the orge of excess baggage charge

i flew to bangkok on tiger air. i was prepared for the worst, and was coached by dw on how to best handle the situation. she said to smile as i check in, and in a pleasant voice, inform the agent that i was an international travler, going to thailand, and then on back home to hi, thus the reason for the excess weight.

so, i did exactly as dw said to do, the agent smiled, nodded, and checked in my two bags, 7k over the limit. no prob.

i don't know if it was my pleasant personality and cheerful greeting(lol) that won the waiver for me, but i avoided any excess charges. (i think they had an amnesty of excess baggage fees.)

i've flown tiger air before, and they are a very professional airline, never had a problem. only thing i don't like about the service, is the free seating.

Thanks Mary W for the KL train information. I guess I'll either fly or just stay in BK the whole tree weeks and plan a trip to KL during the next trip to the region. Happy Travels!

bob, you are probably correct. btw, went to the craft fair at the ambassador, where i first saw you...sigh. man it was crowded. the cashier was asking about you. i told them that you'd rather been in 5" of snow than in warm bangkok.

ht, yes, home now. thanks for the offer on the home team, but i think ucla is the bet.

have a great time in lv, hope the tables will not be as cold as the weather. don't forget to bring your cowboy hat, as all the hopalong's will be in town.
