Check out an article about Sri Lanka's tea country in the Travel section of today's New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/29/tr...tom-well&_r=0#

The journey described in many ways mirrored my own. It is well written and a joy to read. Hope you enjoy it as well.

Norwood was where we did tea tasting. Your report, and this article both contribute to my wish to return to Sri Lanka. Thanks for the link.

Great article. thanks for sharing with us. Sri lanka is a beautiful country.country. I've been there last year . I visited Kumana National park , One of the best bird sanctuaries in the world. It was an awesome experience for me and my wife.

This is our stopover on the way to NZ this winter. Our preference would be to only stay at 4 different places for a total of ~2 weeks. But as I read I am having a difficult time coming up with only 4 stops. We will stay 2 nights in Colombo as our flight arrives at midnight. That's about all I have figured out! Any thoughts?

If I had 2 weeks, I would stay 4 nights each in the Cultural Triangle and in Tea Country. In the Cultural Triangle, we stayed at the Heritance Kandalama and very much enjoyed it; it provides easy access to some of the blockbuster sights and destinations such as Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya Rock, and the Dambulla Cave Temples. Tea Country is a relaxing contrast; in addition to tea plucking, we enjoyed easy scenic walks among fields although there are nice trails in the surrounding parks as well. If you want to unwind, you could head to the beaches along the southern coast for your final stop. There are safari parks in Sri Lanka, with Yala being the most popular one, although I didn't like how crowded it was - for us nor for the animals. We stayed in Colombo for 2 nights as well but could have easily spent another one or two.

Just re-reading this -- you write the best TRs. Thanks for taking the time to do it. This and your current one in NZ will be so helpful for our trip.
