The weather was very very Hot and very very Humid. No rain, though some lightening in the evenings; and depending on size of hotel, we found they weren't all that busy. Probably don' get busy till it gets closer to mid-December thru beginning of January.

You should be OK weatherwise, November is when the high season starts but early November should be fairly quiet.

I disagree with James on the weather, I think you will encounter more rain than you want, plus the moonson rains from the previous months will have churned the water, making it less clear and thus less attractive for diving and snorkling. I would go as late in the month as you can.

I didn't read Cicerone's reply fully, yes later in November or even early December would be better however if you are commited to early November I still say not to be over concerned, and certainly if you are committed to early November you will be better off weatherwise in Phuket area that over on the Gulf side where it really does get very wet that time of year. As opposed to Aug-Sep when it really can be torrential rains and even flooding the rain in November is quite mild and tends to be 'normal' rain as opposed to heavy downpours.
