omni tower
What are the opinions of the omni tower bangkok? Location, distance from sky train, ability to get a nights sleep? Lloyd |
I checked it out in January 2006 and personally it wasn't for me. I didn't stay there, but was given the walk through. Happy Travels!

Bob.
Thanks for the heads up on this thread. lloydboy: Yes, I've stayed at Omni Tower the last 3-4 times I've visited Bangkok. I happen to like it. It has its pluses, and also minuses. I find the size of the apartments to be sufficient, and much roomier than hotel rooms. I like having the fridge and stove and hot water pot and dishes! I usually don't cook much, but it's nice to have breakfast cereal and coffee and toast in room. We first chose Omni Tower because of its close proximity to a pool room that my son was part owner of. (my DH and son play pool a lot in BKK) It is also close to another favorite pool room, but that one has recently closed. I've mentioned it a number of times on this forum, as well as Ming, the manager and cook there (the Brunswick). Anyway, son no longer is part owner of the nearby room, and Brunswick has closed, so we will probably not stay at Omni next time, although we will certainly visit friends who have condos there. OK, as far as its location... it is on soi 4 (Nana). The walk to the sky train is maybe 10 minutes. You can either walk down soi 4, which at night is pretty sleazy, but daytime isn't too bad, or you can walk down soi 6 to soi 8, which is a few jogs, and soi 6 has a lot of one-way traffic (with motorcycles that go the wrong way!!!) to watch out for, but it isn't a bad walk. If you walk down soi 4, you can opt to go to the next sky train station (Ploen Chit I think) instead of Nana station. Rooms I have had have been quiet. I think the higher floors are probably quieter. The condo owners are more apt to have stereos that they play more loudly, and have friends over for dinner parties. Condo owners, in my experience, live on lower floors. I have not had a problem with noise on floors 20 and up (I think there are maybe 36 floors??) The Omni location on soi 4 is not the greatest. If I had my druthers, I would not stay on this soi, which has lots of sleazy night life. The Omni is down the street from it all, but you can't help but walk thru and around it if you are going somewhere on foot. There are plenty of taxis at all hours if you don't want to walk. Hope this helps. Carol |

I should have directed you to my website at cjscollection. If you click on the Photo Gallery link on the left side of the page, you can then access the Asia album. Photos from about #10-#16 are of Omni Tower and rooms there. Carol |
