Mango7 -- I hear you loud and clear, may you enjoy your time in USA Chinatowns ...

Dogster..this is a democracy..not a dictatorship..so yes she has tremedous input on where we go. And being an MD and already quite fastidious, you can be sure that we will be minimizing our exposure to "risky behavior" wherever we go.
Jaya..we just found out last week she is pregnant so this is all brand new for us. Dgunbug..I don't view parenthood as a death sentence..just a HUGE change for both of us. And I am nervous about it. So is she. Mango..I agree about China/Chinatown. Thanks for all the advice/input. I'll look into Bali/Indonesia, Turkey and Morocco. Sounds like we'll need alot more R and R on this trip. I keep thinking my wife will be the same throughout her pregnany (just bigger) but already she gets tired easier now and is ALOT crankier. Any other areas I should look at? Thanks again.. Kevin |
RhkKmk's mangled post was meant to suggest the following hotels:
Ubud, Bali- Alam Shanti Lombok-Quinci Villas One must speak Needhamese to interpret. |
Congrats Kevin. I too would be pretty shook up if a baby was on en route, for I never imagined I would ever have one (I was a long-term bachelor(or player, lol? :)

I feel your pain. Husband and I are thinking of taking the baby plunge and thus I have 2 trips booked and an additional 1 trip planned in the next 12 months before we begin attempting... and I will still miss two of my top 3 destinations - Cuba and Ethiopia.
I know it's not 'adventure' but Japan nearly fits your bill. Ok, it's not cheap, but cheaper than you think (a little less, at least it seemed to me, than the US). We would never have gone except it was a lay over and I must say I was SOOOO suprised. It's got amazing culture, it's not sooo adventurous and so may meet the new needs of your wife (and prevent dogster from worry), it's still a little challenging, its got great food, interesting places to go, would fit your timeframe and has interesting markets (what's more interesting that the fish market?). I'm not so sure about the scuba/diving possibilities, though. And no malaria, yellow fever etc. Jap encephalitis only in really rural areas... |
