Great article so far. I've printed it so that I can read the rest of it. Happy Travels!

Ken
Get Brad to take some pictures of the events with his fancy/schmansy phone! I want to see what I'm missing.

Brad leaves in the morning tomorrow. He'll probably have lunch at Maeng's on Saturday. When will you be there?

Carol, would you ask Brad to report on Maeng's new place? And I seem to have two addresses for it - Soi 11 and Soi 13. Do you know which it is?

We leave for Bangkok next Friday (Nov 2).

Not to highjack this thread, but Kathie, do you know when the new Four Seasons is opening up in Seattle? It's not on the Four Seasons website yet. Happy Travels!

Kathie Oct 24th, 2007 07:05 PM

Guen, really, they've just started construction. I got the first ad I've received for the residences just last week.

Guenmai Oct 25th, 2007 04:40 PM

OK, Kathie...I had no idea how far along they were. I just remember seeing the building when I was there in June. Happy Travels!

Kathie,

Brad emailed that he was going to find Maeng's new place and will report back soon, I hope. He likes just about everything she cooks. And it's all very fresh and authentic. She's a real dynamo, if you've never met her. Not quite 5' tall... She's a real sweetheart.

The location is at soi 13 and Suk Rd. I believe it is in a multi-story building... maybe ground or basement level? I'll let you know just as soon as I hear back from Brad.

And Ken,

Brad will go to Manila (pool tournament) around the 5th - 8th or so. He will catch up with you when he gets back to BKK, I'm sure. I hope the two of you can visit Maeng.

Thanks for the address, Carol. Cheryl and I hope to meet up with Brad, but we fear we'll just miss him, as we fly to Sri Lanka on Nov. 7. We're missing Kuranosuke as well. Next trip, we need to coordinate better.

Brad called yesterday. He said he found Maeng's new place, The Little Kitchen. I wish I had gotten a better description of the location, but it is down soi 13 in a building called Sukhumvit Suites. I don't recall which floor, if he told me.. lobby or below??? It is a serviced apartment building. Brad says he wants to investigate the apartments in this building as it might be a nice option for another trip to BKK.

Maeng wanted Brad to try her new Mexican dish, so he had her salsa. He said it was wonderful!! Very fresh!! He said he could sit and eat it all day. Not too spicy. Not sure why Maeng decided to include Mexican dishes on her menu... I'll have to ask her next time I see her.

Anyway, I told Brad he should post on fodors about the Little Kitchen. I'd love for Maeng to have a few more fodorites frequenting her place. She is an excellent cook!

Carol
