NYEPI DAY INFO

Hello.

I will stay a week in Bali and my plan is to get a taxi from Ubud to Kuta at 31 march 2014, but just read about NYEPI DAY INFO.

Isn't possible in this day travel around?

tnks a lot,

No, you won't be able to travel on Nyepi. In fact you will have to stay within the boundaries of your resort or hotel from sunrise to sunrise.

The Balinese themselves will not use electricity, fire or any type of transportation on this day. That means no lights, no TV, no computers, no cooking, no cars, no motorcycles. The airport is closed. Everyone stays home.

Hotel guests will have access to normal resort services -- electricity, restaurants etc., but the Balinese are quite strict about making sure that no one leaves the hotel grounds.

It's a great day for lounging around the pool or taking advantage of the spa and enjoying the incredible sounds of silence. At night the stars are breathtaking.

Tnks..

Does NYEPI DAY starts 6 a.m at 31 march and end 01 April 6 a.m?

Is a good idea get a bout to Gili Islands until NYEPI DAY finish?

Tnks a lot.

Yes, I believe those are the close down times, though you may want to double check.

The religious aspects of Nyepi will not be celebrated in Lombok or the Gilis or any other part of Indonesia that is predominately Muslim, however it's a national holiday all over the country.

I think Nyepi is a wonderful in Bali. As I said it's profoundly quiet -- no noise, no pollution and stars unlike anything that you see any other night in Bali. Having to stay within the grounds of your resort is limiting but the resorts provide special activities.

I'd suggest you head to Ubud the evening of the 30th and enjoy the uniquely Bali experience.

Also on the night before Nyepi there are big celebrations in Ubud and all over Bali. They make giant figures of ogres and parade them through the streets by torchlight. It's a fun time to be in Bali.
