NRT to Osaka

Our overseas flight arrives NRT around 6:00 PM. Is there a train from airport to Osaka at that time? We are too late to catch flights from NRT to Osaka, so if no train at that time, is there a hotel at/or near airport to stay and catch the next morning flight? Thank you.

You could get to Osaka that evening, but you are probably better off staying in one of the (many, inexpensive) hotels near Narita airport.

There is no train from NRT to Osaka. The best train connection is to take the Narita Express train from NRT to Tokyo station, then the Tokaido&Sanyo Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo to Osaka. There is a Narita Express train leaving at 7.13pm, and you could get to Tokyo station in ample time to catch the 9.18pm Shinkansen to Osaka (arriving at 11.48pm) - sounds like something of a trial after a long flight.

You can get excellent information about schedules etc from the West Japan Railway company site, http://www.westjr.co.jp/english/ .

Or, take a bus (about 1 hr) to Haneda, Tokyo's domestic airport, from which there are flights at 8:45pm and 9:45pm going to Kansai, Osaka. At Kansai airport, public transportation to the City is still available until 11:30pm. Those flights are popular among Osaka-based businessmen to make a day-trip to Tokyo.

Yes, there are hotels at NRT. There is a Holiday that is 1 km from the airport. It has a free airport shuttle.
