Novotel Platinum Bangkok...Great family accommodation in a prime location.

We have just completed a fantastic 4 day stay at the relatively new Novotel Platinum.

We primarily choose this Hotel due to it being one of the few that will accomodate a family of 4 in one room. They also do not charge for children under 15, another rarity in Bangkok Hotels.

The standard twin rooms have 2 queen beds and are large enough for 4, if you are not intending to spend much time in the room, but they also have fantastic deals on suites.

As an Accor member, we were notified of a deal that they were running that offered 40% off room rates. This allowed us to book a suite for less than 4500 baht per night..all up which also included breakfast for 4 and nightly access to their Premier Lounge.

The Lounge access was a real treat as we could feast on an excellent range of "canapes`" and enjoy a few complimentary drinks each night from 5 -7pm. The only issue with this is that we had no room left for dinner! The lounge is on the 24th floor and has fabulous views of Central World Plaza and the skyline beyond.

As for the location, I dont think that we have stayed in a better one. We had Platinum Mall just below us, Pratnum Market and Central World within a stones throw, we were surrounded by a myriad of street food vendors and small restaraunts, had 2 7/11's less than 200 metres away and the BIG C complex just a little further on.

We had a leisurely 10-15 minute walk to either Chidlom or Siam BTS stations, with easy access via Central World's footbridge.

We found the absolute "jewel in the crown" to be the fact that we were vitually on top of a water taxi stop that gave us easy access to the Grand Palace, China Town and KhoSan road with tickets costing an whole 9 baht. Between this, the BTS and MRT, we didn't require a taxi even once during our stay.

I would recommend this Hotel to any family travelling to Bangkok. It gives you a little bit of luxury without being ostentatious, they are very tolerant of children and you will have access to the majority of Bangkok without having to endure the traffic.

Thanks for your review, shanek. The water taxi stop is a real benefit!

So many new properties in Bangkok!

Do you think it could be a good choice for someone on their own? ( I will have 1 night possibly in September on my way through from Singapore back to the Uk and I will be on my own)

Yes Kathie...in fact there is another one going up right between the Novotel and Central World.

Smeagol, if you can get a deal on it, I would stay there as it is in a very convienient spot. It is family friendly but not over-run with kids. There were many couples and singles there. It also seemed to attract a large Asian clientelle.

The only negative factor would be the traffic around the area. We arrived at about 10pm and it still took about half an hour to drive the last few kilometres. This would be a bigger consideration if you are staying for the one night.

Hi Shane! Sorry we missed one another. I was in and out of Platinum a number of times on this trip, so we probably were wandering the halls at the same time!

Thanks for your report on this hotel. Sounds great for you guys.
