Not to miss in Saigon?

We will have four full days in Saigon, arriving December 23 very late and leaving on December 28 for Phnom Penh. What should we absolutely not miss? Do you think we can spend a couple of days there, see the Mekong Delta and then find transportation to Phnohm Penh?

Our tickets have us flying into Saigon and then on the 4th of Jan. flying back to Korea from Siem Reap. We'll take a couple of days in PP before heading to SR where I hope to spend four full days.

All help is appreciated!!

:)

We spent last Christmas in Saigon. We stayed at the Caravelle and one of the highlights for us on Christmas night was dinner in the their restaurant on the 3rd Floor (can't remember its name)the food was good, but not cheap but the main highlight was that it overlooked the Opera house on the steps which the Saigon where the Saigon Ballet were performing Swan Lake! There were lots of other celebrations in the square as the night went on.

Saigon Saigon ids teh roof terrace bar at the top of the Caravelle and is great for Sundowners and the jazz that is played later in the evening. The roof op bar of the Rex is also good for drinks.
Well worth a visit is the 15th May School which looks after the street kids in district 1. see http://www.15mayschool.org/ an amazing and touching experience.
the previous poster has covered most of the primary attractions Ben Than market is a great palce for lunch and I believe there is now a night market in the area. have a great time ist is one of the great Cities of Asia.

The restaurant at the Caravelle is called Asian Reflections. They have changed their menu in the last 6 months, but I think it's better now than it was before.

Night market has been at Ben Thahn market for awhile. A few different things than you'll find inside, but not much.

Watch your handbag when walking around HCMC. Motorbike bandits will race up along side you and grab them right off your shoulder in broad daylight right in the middle of District 1.

If you take a Cu Chi tunnels tour make sure it also includes the Cao Dai temple. Cao Dai is an interesting blend of earlier religions, as is the temple. If you go to the Cholon area there are lots of Chinese temples to visit.
