Not Really A Trip Report Kind of Trip Report (Japan 2016)
You've probably noticed I don't usually do proper trip reports, rather I drop detailed feedback and thoughts about many of our Japan experiences in a hundred different threads here or there! And I share links to the elements I write up on my food and travel blog as well.
I thought it might be useful for me to at least share the itinerary for our recent 28 night trip here, and will also share links to blog posts from the trip in the thread. And if anyone has any questions about any aspect of it you are welcome to ask here too. This was our third trip to Japan (the first in Sep/Oct 2012 and the second in Oct/Nov 2013). This time we wanted to see Sakura so we travelled in late March through to late April. We flew into and out of Tokyo on airmile flights. Blog posts thus far (many more to come, some already written and queued to publish in coming weeks, some half way written and others just in my head)!

Following! Great posts so far, and the meal looks amazing!

Amy, one of the best meals I've ever had! We had several very good kaiseki meals on this trip but that Kyoto one just blew me away!

Can't wait to start reading!

Hakone, with some photos, and a lovely lunch. http://www.kaveyeats.com/2016/08/kin...one-japan.html

Thanks for posting, Kavey. Haven't started in yet, but I look forward to devouring every work in prep for our September 2017 trip.

Thanks Betsy!

Here's the report for our day in Miyama, a little North of Kyoto and a great place to see some traditional bamboo thatched roof homes. They are quite distinct from those in Gifu and I loved that we could stay in one overnight but have the entire home to ourselves.

Here's one you might not have come across, a lovely tip for those visiting Hakone:

Hi Kavey,
Did you ever receive the pottery you made on your trip? As I recall, you were going to have to wait until August to have it delivered. Did it arrive in one piece? |
Yes I did, I just got it last week! It's the next post I'm working on to blog, that whole visit and my finished cup as well! Thank you for asking after that, I didn't want to get my hopes up incase it didn't survive the firing or the postage but I'm thrilled with it!
