Not rape this time, but a serious assault

Being a couple doesn't help, being a group would be better. |
How tragic!
Thanks for keeping us informed, thursdaysd. |
Thanks for the post. It was a good reminder to everyone, everywhere.

The article is also interesting for the attitudes of the Hindu nationalists to the Taj, although I had seen them reported somewhere else. I had always throught it ironic that the building everyone associates with India was built by/for one of the Mughal invaders.

I thought that was very interesting, too.

What a horrible and upsetting incident.
Hindu extremists are scary (as are extremists/fanaticsof any sort). How many know that current PM Modi was at one time barred from entering the USA due to accusations (unproven) of his involvement with Hindu nationalists vs Muslims in his home state of Gujarat? |
That's unfortunate news. My wife and I loved Fatehpur Sikri on our trip ages ago, and wandered all over the place.
We did have one incident in Jodhphur. My wife was sitting on a bench watching the chaotic street scene while I wandered maybe 200 feet away to take a photo. My wife was conservatively dressed, but is petite and had long blonde hair. A solitary young man suddenly ran over and grabbed her boobs. She screamed and I started sprinting back. He saw me coming and ran off. That was the end of it. An unpleasant experience on a trip where we met some of the most wonderful and helpful people ever. We have so many stories about that side of things I could go on a long time. There were folks, Hindu and Muslim, who we maintained contact with for well over a decade before it finally faded away, long before the days of e-mail. But sorry to hear about this recent episode. |
