"Northern Motorbike trip: Cao Bang, Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen Provinces"
This trip report through a less well-known part of Vietnam was posted by my daughter in her blog at http://despatchesfromhanoi.wordpress.com/ and with some bias I think it's a pretty good account.
Emma and her husband Brendonwork in Hanoi with the Australian volunteer aid organisation VIDA. Emma works inside a Vietnamese government department helping to coordinate rural water supply and sanitation programs. Brendon is running training and curriculum development at the well-known KOTO restaurant, established by a Vietnamese-Australian guy named Jimmy Pham with the aim of rescuing and training street kids for jobs in the hospitality industry.
This is an account, with photos, of a recent motorbike trip north from Hanoi to the Chinese border which they took with Emma's visiting brother Brendan (confusion between husband and brother minimised by their agreement to call each other "Dan" and "Don"). Emma's earlier blog entries also make good reading.
