Nomination-best trip report-Dogster

I hereby nominate Dogsters Stumble through India as the best trip report. It's really not even close. His prose is poetry in narrative form.

DonTopaz Jun 19th, 2008 02:43 AM

I generally agree with the OP's idea,

However, I would point out to him that "prose [that] is poetry in narrative form" is called "prose."

robmac Jun 19th, 2008 04:09 AM

This really goes against the grain--but I must agree with the Great Furry One.

The Dogster's report is far and away the most engrossing read I have had on this forum.

I just hope that it does not deter others from reporting because of fear of comparison.

Conversely I hope that others do not try to emulate him.

ekscrunchy Jun 19th, 2008 04:34 AM

It is now official! Now we have to decide upon a just reward!

robmac Jun 19th, 2008 04:41 AM

How about a Panda as a house pet?

FurryTiles Jun 19th, 2008 04:59 AM

As the Lesser Furry One, I concur!

Reward? What about a free trip to India :D

Could we have a gala night, with many nominations in various categories of trip report styles?

All winners get a bronzed statue called an 'Odor(we delete the F in the interests of family viewing) in a shape depicting the essence of travel.

Dogster would get a Lifetime 'Odor to honour his exceptional contribution.

Sah!

FurryTiles--I like it.

But may I suggest--L'Odor

It has a certain "Je ne sais quoi"--don't you think?

Kathie Jun 19th, 2008 05:39 AM

I certainly agree! Dogster's trip report is a delight. I look forward to new installments each day.

But I do think there should be one other category - one category that AskO's report would fit it. I'll let others come up with clever names.

ekscrunchy Jun 19th, 2008 05:44 AM

Yes, but AskO did not even finish her report!!!

Hanuman Jun 19th, 2008 05:45 AM

Agree! I even told my daughter to read it and learn how to write like the dogster.

FurryTiles Jun 19th, 2008 06:05 AM

Oh yes Robmac, l'Odor has class!

And there could be sub-categories:

Best Unfinished Report (for AskO)

and certainly a Major l'Odor for
ta daaaah ....

Best Paragraphing

... and a double mini l'Odor welded back to back (double syntax) for ...

Impeccable Grammar

and a Special Monumental l'Odor de Honeur for Most Humourous Report. (Or Humorous, as political correctites we will adjust spelling to suit venue).

robmac Jun 19th, 2008 06:16 AM

I think we have created a monster.

The possibilities are endless.

I am sure the Great Furry One is busy with his list.

Gpanda Jun 19th, 2008 07:48 AM

The not-so-great furry one ( perhaps one and one-half would be more accurate) suggests that we are perhaps getting ahead of ourselves. Let's give the proper acclaim to Dogster and not dilute the praise with lesser awards. Ask Oksana's report does deserve special note, but lets leave that for now. Keep the focus.

Rizzutto-one would not expect anyone from prosaic Billerica to grasp the subtle nuances of poetry, poetic license or writing as an art. Basically, if it doesn't involve hockey, Billericans are disqualified.

Femi Jun 19th, 2008 07:48 AM

Hmmm, as engrossing as the India report is, the Bhutan report is still my favorite. This may change though...

I must also add that I almost fell over when I saw that a certain creature put down the bamboo switch and is almost cuddly! Don't be fooled you guys, it's just a lure! Let's see what happens when Ekskrunchy of the now (in)famous never-finished-but-snuck-in-a-trip-to-Italy trip report tries to approach the bench.

dogster Jun 19th, 2008 07:48 AM

Oh, you are making me LAUGH.

I'll gladly stand on the podium and accept any award you care to offer - but you just know that I'll be drunk or otherwise incapitated, make a fool of myself - and tumble off.

It's the Dogster way - he knows no other.

Gpanda Jun 19th, 2008 07:55 AM

The podium will be in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the October 2008 GTG. Dogster will be honored. His presence would be the highlight of our pathetic lives.

Please note that our beer comes in 12 ounce cans, i.e., half of an Australian serving.

Femi-the bamboo switch is wielded only when appropriate. It's not my fault that this arises so often.

The prizes should be:
1) First prize - spending a week with GPanda
2)Second Prize- spending 2 weeks with GPanda.
3) Third prize - spending 3 weeks with GPanda in Philadelphia!

Gpanda Jun 19th, 2008 09:47 AM

Philadephia was panderized during college. Kill 'em Quakers.

janev Jun 19th, 2008 09:58 AM

Agreed - great reports! I am selfishly waiting for more from Dogster on Nepal - I'm sure Kathie would be pleased with that too.
