Nok Air have stopped regular flights to Phuket
Nok Air have ceased flights to Phuket August 1, they had stopped Krabi July 1, so now only Air Asia as a budget carrier. I guess that means fares will go up as much reduced competition. Phuketgazette has said some weekend flights will be operated, but if you have booked with Nok Air to Phuket you had better check out their website.

Nok Air is resuming twice-weekly flights to Phuket from Bangkok following media reports of Phuket-bound tourists stranded in Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
The limited service, which resumes on August 9, is scheduled to operate on Saturdays and Sundays only. Flights depart from Don Muang airport in Bangkok to Phuket International Airport (PIA) at 9.15 am, with the return leg taking off from PIA at 11.05 am. However, the Sunday flight for this week will be moved to Tuesday, August 12 to accommodate those wishing to enjoy Mother's Day in Phuket. For the rest of August the flights will be on Saturdays and Sundays. Many Phuket-bound tourists who already faced limited flight options following the suspension of One-Two-Go's services on July 22 were stranded in Bangkok when Nok Air suspended its Bangkok-Phuket service on August 1. The move followed Nok Air's halt of its Krabi-Bangkok service on July 1. Nok Air also suspended its loss-ridden Phuket-Haad Yai service November last year after a six-month trial period found there were not enough passengers to continue it. It now remains impossible to fly between the South's two major airports, which for decades had regularly-scheduled services. |
Leigh,
"It now remains impossible to fly between the South's two major airports, which for decades had regularly-scheduled services" - really? You care to name the airline that served this route(Phuket - Had Yai) for "decades"? |
Leigh,
Found it - Thai Airways for over 20 years! I vividly remember the accident of TG 365 in 87 so I was trying to figure out if it was Thai Airways or their predecessor. |
james---it looks very nice but the price tag is high
|
They stopped flights to Ubon Ratchathani late June on just 1 days notice! Lots of people high and dry although for the first day they did help people get onto the Thai flights.

Hanuman,
Yes, really.....but then you have worked that out....in the end. I post here in an effort to help others. Your snipes are becoming tiresome. Try to focus on offering worthwhile opinions and advice, which is what most visitors to this forum are looking for. My comments are always based on personal experience and though they may not concur with your opinions, they are always honest and genuine. Slainte!! or as I THINK they say in Thailand...Choc-tee |
leigh---i thought he asked a reasonable question...

Leigh,
No insulted intended towards your post! Sometime I do find some of your post to be of a different opinion than mind but that's he great thing about a forum like this. Regarding the Hat Yai - Phuket flight, I lost a friend on that flight and I was just trying to remember if it was a Thai Airways flight or the other national airline that used to fly the domestic routes in Thailand. |
Hanuman,
No insult taken. I too have personal reasons to remember that flight. 31st August 1987. Maybe that's why I was a little touchy. |
