Nightlife in Bangkok

Hi, gonna be in Bangkok for 3 nights during the weekdays. I was wondering hows the clubbing scene on weeknights, is it dead or popping? Any clubs you guys could recommend me to go with my gf? Also my gf is interested in going to Patpong and Soi Cowboy. Just want to know are most of the beer and go-go bars couples friendly? Thanks!!!

I don't think there is any night when BKK is 'dead'... There is always something going on. It doesn't matter what night it is, unless it's tied to an election or special holiday, when bars cannot be open (or they cannot sell alcohol).

Try the Bed Supper Club for an unique night out.

Most of the ground level bars in Patpong are reasonably couple friendly. Just avoid being led upstairs as some of these places use some unscrupulous tactics to prise extra baht from unsuspecting tourists

I haven't been to soi cowboy but I expect it would be similar.

You must go see the Calypso Cabaret. Great Ladyboy show- classy, fun, good for all ages. We have seen it 3 times as have others on this forum. Check out their website. You can book your tickets ahead of time and pick them up at the box office on the night of the show. You can also pick your seats- try to get the first row. Bring your camera as picture taking is permitted. After the show the "girls" line up for picture taking with the guests. But do tip them- about 40 Baht . The show is located in the Asia Hotel which is reached by sky train. Do the show but skip the dinner option. The show price includes one drink.

lol. Asking for clubbing advice in this forum is patently ridiculous.

The average age here is, to be generous, 55++++. More like 60+. Several members are over 100 years old. The only club they know is a club sandwich.

As for beer and go-go bars - fergaddaboudit. Trust me, the minute you hit town and wander around your chosen areas you'll know exactly where to go. Avoid ping-pong.

Please disregard the above post. I have some notes on good clubs in Bangkok. Let me get my glasses. I know they are here somewhere. Maybe the nurse knows where they are.

Don't despair, darocky. Soon you'll be offered insurance, hotel recommendations for China, best credit card information, as well as carefully worded warnings about touts.

<i>Creful touts scammers spammers attack trolls thread hijacers defamers hereand trher check profile and troll post record carefully.</i>

Sorry darocky - as you see we oldies have trouble staying on topic. Early onset dementia.

Some of us are still on our second set of teeth.

I would love to go clubbing but I dont like leaving the kids by themselves.

The nightlife is a little more relaxed on the islands. My favorite is the Reggae Pub in Koh Samui. It just celebrated its 25th birthday. Maybe some of the other
Fodorites are still young enough to have been there in its early days.

Try the lonelyplanet thorntree forum for more information on the bangkok club scene. Do bear in mind that most board members there will still be underage and unlikely to be able to afford to go clubbing!

Funny thread. Bed Supperclub is a good recommendation - I think I was 49 when I visited. I am still not 55++++ but I may be in the minority. I do know about club sandwiches...

Don't believe a soul in here, darocky. All of them are over seventy-five.

Only Dogster can be trusted. These old farts adopted him when he was a teenager. He just comes in here to be kind.

LOL 555... hahaha... What an informative thread this has turned out to be. Dogster, you ole dog... you add spice to our lives. Keep it coming, please!! Where are you these days? We you be able to attend the big birthday bash in April?

And yes, Bed Supper Club is a good suggestion, as would be Q Bar, if it is still open, just down from the Bed on soi 11.

I still like Tawandang, but I'm not sure you'd call that "clubbing" in BKK. But it certainly is always a great time!

Proud to be of the 55+++ group (big grin)

Carol

darrenmike99 - what clus) are you recommending?

darocky - are you in your 20s or in your 30s? Need to know as some clubs are just filled with teens while others are more suited for people in their 20s and some for those in their 30s and up.

darocky,

I, or my daughter who is in her 20s as well, like the following clubs:

Fallabella - http://fallabellabangkok.com/fallabe...ertainment.php

Wine Bridge - http://www.bestbarbangkok.com/Wine_Bridge_Plus.html

Both have mixed live bands as well as recorded. Very, very crowded on weekends from 10.00PM onward.

Have fun.
