Nicholas Cage's "Terrifying Experince during Bangkok Coup

I say NC interviewed on two different talk shows today, hyping his new movie Bangkok Dangerous.

In both he mentioned that a coup took place while he and his family were there. He ended up flying back to drop his family in Seoul, then coming back to Bangkok, keeping a sharp eye out for any danger.

First thought this was the current coup, then realized it was the one last year...the one where tourists were taking photos with the tank operators!

Either he scares really easily, or he is telling this exagerated story thinking no one watching knows anything about Thailand!

He's just trying to get publicity for his new movie.

I've met a lot of Hollywood actors while filming in Thailand and most of them don't go out much without some sort of an escort and lead a very sheltered life while in Thailand.

My two favourite actors that I met in Bangkok were the late Gregory Hines and his wife who were very charming and Erik Estrada who tried to water ski with me on the Choa Praya river, this was a long... time ago.

Hanuman-are there any pictures of your waterskiing adventure? These would be priceless. Inquiring pandas want to know.

My feelings exactly. As my friend, Dr Jack on soi 4, asked after my day riding the BTS,

"Did you see any tanks anywhere?" .. no
"Did you see armed police or military anywhere?"... no

CNN International was most definitely sensationalizing the story of the current unrest!

hanuman, the best part of visiting Bangkok is being with my many Thai friends once again. NC and other Hollywood elites don't get those opportunities because their bodyguards make sure any strangers are kept away. Too bad!

The TV screens at the BTS stations were previewing Bangkok Dangerous, so that's why NC would be out there promoting his new movie.

I could care less about Hollywood!!

No pictures but I have it on video I think.

The only actor that walk around Bangkok by himself that I know of is Steven Segal. Mean looking dude!

Kathie,

Yes we used to do it a lot around Nonthaburi and I used to love to "splash" the people on the deck of the Oriental Queen when it pass by.

Bob,

Boardshort only. Don't have the figure to adorn a Speedo!

How pathetic is NC to have to blow things so out of proportion to promote himself. Umph...umph...umph...It's good he wasn't there, in Dec 2006, when the bombs went off. Can you imagine how he would have described that? I would have had to jump in and tell the real truth...yes, Ms. Guen on CNN...debunking his exaggerations.
And when is this movie supposed to be coming out? Happy Travels!

P.S. Hanuman...a few years ago, Forrest Whitteker(sp?) had spoken in a written interview very highly of Thailand and it being his favorite place. He likes Bangkok and it sounded as if he got around the place.

Another famous actor who spends a lot of time in Bangkok is Jean Claud Van Damme.

My friends ran into him at a McDonalds on Sukhumvit. They weren't impressed with his social skills.

Jean Claud is a d@@@@@bag no matter if he is in bkk or not! Not a good personal experience for me, sorry

The movie comes out tomorrow here in the US. My wife wants to see if more than I do.

In the original, the main guy is deaf right? Wish NC was in this one also!

We just got home from seeing this movie. We gave it 2.5 popcorn bags out of 5. If we didnt just LOVE BKK we would of given it only a half a bag. It was overly graphic at times, but had some great shots of BKK. Sadly, most of it happens at night in or around Patpong/soi cowboy. My wife was very happy to se MBK and the floating market in the movie!!!!!

I wish someone would make a movie of the book," Bangkok 8". Now that could be one heck of a film and then do the sequels. I've read all three books. Happy Travels!

Actors always blow things out of proportion about the scenario around a shoot. Its all hype. They pretend there's a reality in their lives. Its a joke. I've never spoken to anyone who had a bad experience during the coup. Cage is a drama queen.
