NEW TSA REGS STARTING NOV 1---VERY IMPORTANT

we got a message from american air today about new TSA regs going into effect on nov 1.

as part of your reservation info, the airline must pass on to the TSA in advance, the following info or you will be DENIED transit.....the airline must have this info 72 HOURS prior to your flight...

as i understand it the info is: full name as it appears on your government issued id----your birthdate---- and your sex (known or unknown)...

this is serious stuff and if you don't do it....NO FLY!!!!

my daughter, who books travel all day long, has just told me that there is a fee you can pay to avoid this but it is quite significant.... so all may not be lost, but its another fee/tax etc. that government may levy on travellers...

as of mid-september all new bookings will require this info, but older bookings did not collect it...

United has already had me file this information with them for about the last 4 flights I've taken, maybe more. I guess I thought the information was already required by this time.

But for those who are not aware, this is good information to know!

See you soon, Bob. Hi to K.

Yes, this has been around for a while, My last three trips at least.
Should this post be in the lounge because of the sex thing?

I've done this, as well, on trips to Athens and Istanbul. Just thought it was a common request by now.
