New Thai Visa
http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/b...t-green-light/
Just e-mailed over to me by a friend. Happy Travels! |
there are also plans for new tourist visas.
Many plans for visas have been announced over the years, but as yet only the restrict plans seem to have found favour. It would be nice to see Thailand come in line with other countries - e.g. Malaysia. They haven't specified what "professionals" will qualify though. |
Yeah, it WOULD be nice to see Thailand come in line with Malaysia as far as visas go.

"The Thai government has approved the extension of long-stay visas for senior tourists from one year to ten years. The new visa will cost 10,000 Baht. The Ministry of Public Health reported to the Cabinet on 22 November 2016 that the number of foreign senior citizens seeking to stay in Thailand for a long period is on the rise" -

Thanks for the info, Khunwilko. I wasn't aware that the visa process had changed as nothing is as it seems when dealing with Thailand. I'll read up on it more as I just had time to skim over it. But, I hope that one will be able to come in and out of the country as much as one desires like with the MM2H, 10-year visa in Malaysia. Although I retired, a few years ago at age 56, I still do work as I have real estate here to upkeep. I don't plan to move to Thailand permanently, but it would be nice to be able to live there part of the year, twice a year, and without having to jump through a lot of hoops.

Please refer the official website & they have recent updates
|
I didn't say they've changed.....they have "approved" new visas....there are quite a few" elite" visas and proposed changes - but how soon thy will take effect is anyone's guess.
Immigration relies largely on "intuition" as opposed to research before they come up with a new idea...so it remains to be seen how worthwhile these proposals and what the take-up will be. It looks like the 6 month multiple entry tourist visa has been an unmitigated flop, due to all the hoops and red tape involved. Let's see if they can be a bit more sensible with variations on the O and B visas. at present immigration are simply getting more and more pernickety with work visas in general |
When I stated, "change" I was referring to there being a change in the visa situation as in changing from the 1-year to a 10-year possibility.
