New liquid travel rules
 

This is looking more promising for those of us who wish to bring wine and perfume from the duty free areas.

All day today they have been announcing that small, up to 4 ounce sized liquids or gels will be allowed as long as they are in a 1 qt ziplock bag. Yea, us ladies can again bring foundation and moisturizers. (Our daughter, flying today had her lipstick confisacted)

Especially interesting is that liquids puchased in the "sterile area" - meaning after security checks will be allowed on the flights. Come on board with coffee, water, etc., oh as long as you pay four times as much from the concessionaires, for water at the airport.

Now I'm wondering if this means we can now purchase wines and spirits again at the duty free?

I heard on the National news this eveving that duty free liquor and perfume is allowed.

But what about non-duty free wines bought at the wine places like this after you go through security and are in the waiting area:

I love buying a bottle of wine at that place at Dulles and taking it w/me as a gift. But it is not a duty free shop. What is the difference.

The NYT article I read said that liquids purchased in the secure area were going to be allowed. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this gets implemented.

Apparently, if you buy it in what they call the sterile area i.e.after you have gone through security, you can bring it on board as carry on.

I will be a happy camper if I can bring some tooth paste with me on my way to Thailand! I was dreading the thought of not being able to bruch my teeth for 26 hours!

What I read yesterday was that NO duty free wine allowed.

But this too can change, eventually.

No lipstick?! Has this happened to anyone else? I may need to wear a burqa.

Eurotraveller...I totally understand the toothpaste concern. I just came back from flying...L.A.-Tokyo-Singapore...10hr.layover...then on to Bangkok and couldn't brush my teeth until I got to my apartment building in Bangkok...I think I brushed for half an hour when I finally could brush...Smiles.
Someone suggested tooth powder, but I couldn't find any at the drugstores that I went to. And I didn't want to use baking powder. Happy Travels!
